Cambridge IGCSE Biology, topic 11
Gas exchange in humans
Humans need to take in oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. This topic covers the parts of the breathing system, the features of the alveoli that make gas exchange efficient, how ventilation works and how breathing changes during exercise. It also looks at how the airways protect the lungs from pathogens and particles.
