Cambridge IGCSE Biology, topic 2
Organisation of the organism
All living things are made of cells, so this topic starts with what is inside plant, animal and bacterial cells and what each part does. It then shows how cells are specialised and built up into tissues, organs, organ systems and organisms. Finally you learn to calculate magnification and the actual size of specimens, converting between millimetres and micrometres.
Subtopics
Work through them in order. Each one has notes, exam questions and flashcards, and a PDF of each.
- 1Cell structure Spec 2.1Structure and function of plant, animal and bacterial cells, specialised cells, and the levels of organisation from cell to organism.NotesQuestions 7Flashcards 17
- 2Size of specimens Spec 2.2Use magnification = image size ÷ actual size to find magnification and real size, and convert between mm and µm.NotesQuestions 5Flashcards 5

When you have done the subtopics: test yourself on everything, or print the lot.
